Commercial Solar Pool and Aquatic Heating

Maktinta designs and builds solar pool heating and aquatic energy systems for schools, municipalities, athletic facilities, hotels, community pools, and commercial aquatic centers.

Our systems are engineered around the actual pool load, operating schedule, climate, available collector area, existing boilers, filtration equipment, and controls to reduce heating costs while maintaining reliable water temperatures.

Pool Heating Starts With the Load

Commercial pools are continuous thermal loads. Water temperature, pool surface area, operating hours, evaporation, ambient conditions, wind exposure, filtration schedules, boiler efficiency, and available solar area all affect how much energy the facility actually requires.

Maktinta evaluates those conditions before selecting equipment or sizing the solar array.

The goal is not simply to install collectors. It is to design the solar, boiler, pump, filtration, and control systems to operate together as one aquatic energy system.

Aquatic Energy Management and Controls

Heating equipment cannot perform efficiently if the rest of the pool operates independently. Maktinta integrates solar heating with pool pumps, boilers, filtration, chemical treatment, temperature controls, and facility schedules.

Our aquatic control systems can monitor and coordinate operating conditions including water temperature, chemistry, pump operation, boiler use, and solar availability.

That gives facility teams better visibility into how the pool is operating while allowing the equipment to respond as one coordinated system.

Why Solar Pool Heating?

Pool heating is one of the strongest applications for solar thermal because commercial pools require large amounts of relatively low temperature heat for long operating periods.

A properly designed solar system can offset a substantial portion of conventional pool heating while working alongside existing boilers or other supplemental heating equipment.

  • Reduce natural gas and heating costs

  • Extend the swimming season

  • Reduce boiler runtime

  • Integrate with existing pool equipment

  • Lower facility carbon emissions

  • Support California Energy Code compliance where applicable

  • Provide long term thermal energy with relatively simple equipment

Aquatic Engineering in the Field

Maktinta has designed, installed, and rehabilitated commercial aquatic heating systems across California.

Our work includes systems ranging from community pools to large school district aquatic facilities with hundreds of solar collectors.

Most real facilities are mixed. Cold plate on the high-density rows, RDHx or contained air on the rest, sharing one chilled water plant. The difficulty is the plant: sizing, staging, and control across two very different load profiles without either side destabilizing the other. We design the plant and write the control sequences.
